JustServe Greater Houston JustServe matches faith, nonprofit, community and governmental organizations with volunteers willing to help. Go to www.JustServe.org What is JustServe?

JustServe matches faith, nonprofit, community and governmental organizations that need volunteers with volunteers willing to help. JustServe.org links you to service opportunities in your community so you can make a difference wherever you are and however you want to serve. Once we know what the needs are, we tell you about them here on JustServe then you can go and help get the job done. We make

it easy to sign-up and show-up, on your time and in your way. JustServe.org is provided as a service by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following the Biblical admonition to "love thy neighbor as thyself," JustServe provides opportunities to relieve suffering, care for the poor and needy, and enhance the quality of life in the community. JustServe is not for proselytizing or publicity–simply a service to help link community volunteer needs with volunteers. Why should I volunteer? We may not solve world hunger here at JustServe, but we're convinced that by serving with each other in our local communities, we're paving the way for much broader changes. Our individual efforts don't need to be huge – a little bit of change here, a few hours there – but even small efforts quickly add up to make a real difference. As we work side-by-side and learn from each other, mutual understanding increases, misconceptions can be corrected, and new friendships are built. JustServe general guidelines:
* The best service opportunities are collaborative – working side-by-side with others in the community.
* Humanitarian service opportunities should assist the poor and those in need of a helping hand.
* Community service opportunities should enhance the quality of life in the community.
* JustServe projects should not directly involve volunteers in fundraising, have a political focus, or be for-profit oriented.

🇺🇸 REMEMBER. HONOR. SERVE. 🇺🇸

This September, we have an opportunity to turn remembrance into action.

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, communities across our area are coming together for the 9/11 National Day of Service, honoring those we lost, those who served, and the countless acts of courage and unity that followed that day.

❤️ Join us in a day of service in our communities.

Whether you serve alongside your family, friends, neighbors, congregation, or community organization, there are meaningful ways to make a difference.

🔎 Visit JustServe.org to find a service project near you.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember.
We still honor, and together, we can still choose to serve. 🇺🇸❤️

What a turnout! 🎒 JustServe was proud to be part of Lamar CISD’s Back to School Bash at Tomas High School in Richmond, TX this past Saturday.
The gym was packed with students and families exploring dozens of local businesses, nonprofits, and support services — picking up everything from school supplies to prizes to information on programs that support our community.
But more than anything, it was a day of connecting with good people. As Josette Eagar, JustServe Director for the Houston South Area, put it: some already love to serve, others have always wanted to but didn’t know where to start. Parents came looking out for their kids’ service hours — and hoping the next generation gets the same perspective-changing experiences they had serving as kids themselves.
A few of the people Josette met stuck with her:
A high school student who loves to serve and brings her friends along every chance she gets — she wants to tell them all about JustServe.
An elementary schooler who said he likes to serve because “he wants to make sure everyone is ok.”
A 5th grader determined to make sure her school has a service project every single year.
And a nonprofit founder who started her organization to help girls navigate the same challenges she faced growing up — now hoping JustServe can help her find the volunteers to make it happen.
That’s the heart of what we do: linking people and organizations who need help with people who are ready to give it. Whether it’s a few hours or an ongoing commitment, there’s a project out there for everyone.
Didn’t get to stop by our table? Find volunteer opportunities near you — or list one for your organization — at JustServe.org.
Thank you to Lamar CISD and Tomas High School for hosting such a great event for the community!

❤️🚚 Service in Action: A Community Coming Together

One of the most inspiring parts of serving is seeing what can happen when people unite around a common purpose.

This week, volunteers, community partners, and local leaders gathered at Second Mile Mission Center as a truck carrying 40,000 pounds of food arrived to support individuals and families facing food insecurity. The delivery was made possible through a partnership between JustServe, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Second Mile Mission Center, and America250.

While the food will help fill pantry shelves, the greatest impact may be the connections created along the way.

“As we reconnected through the Lord’s work, I was reminded of how much we need each other to help love one another,” shared South Houston JustServe Director Josette Eagar. “Everything was about connection—spirit to spirit.”

Service is about more than meeting a need. It’s about building relationships, strengthening communities, and reminding people they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Whether you’re unloading a truck, stocking shelves, tending a community garden, mentoring a child, or helping a neighbor, every act of service matters. Together, small acts of kindness create lasting change.

We’re grateful for the volunteers and community organizations who continue to answer the call to serve. Your willingness to give your time and talents is making a real difference in the lives of others.

On February 28, 2026, hundreds of volunteers across the greater Tomball area came together to serve multiple local organizations, including Harvest Home Assisted Living, the Tomball Museum Center, and The Moses Closet.

Volunteers supported a wide range of needs—from building repairs and yard work to assembling donations for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Families, youth, and children served side by side, contributing more than 1,000 hours of service in a single morning.

Organizers shared their gratitude for the effort and the spirit of service shown throughout the day, noting the strong community impact made across all three locations.

The project highlighted how collective service can make a meaningful difference for local organizations and the people they support.

Volunteers came together in Houston to help restore two community garden spaces on February 28.

People of all ages cleaned garden beds, cleared debris, and built new planting areas at Blackshear Elementary School and the Third Ward Multi-Service Center.

Around 50 volunteers contributed more than 120 hours of service, including Girl Scouts Troop Baker Ripley 148159 and other community participants.

The project helped prepare both sites for future crops and continued community use.
