The old, rotting window wells needed replacing, so the homeowner chose cedar. Its natural resistance to pests and rot makes it a smart, long-lasting choice, and the warm wood finish adds a polished look you just don’t get with typical metal, plastic or concrete options.

Rock solid plans loading … 🪨

A homeowner is bringing their love of Japanese culture and zen right to their own Midwest home with a Japanese rock garden or karesansui (dry landscape garden). They’ve been working on the project themselves but needed help bringing a few large rocks in and set into place.

They asked for one or three rocks … just not four. Did you know in Japanese culture, the number four is considered unlucky? The number four is pronounced “shi” and sounds similar to the Japanese word for death. Many hospitals, apartments and buildings skip the fourth floor or label it something else entirely!

Big rocks, odd numbers, zen vibes. 😌

Rags to riches, landscape edition. 👀🌱

We took this yard from weeds and rough ground → graded and prepped → hydro mulched → finished grass. Same yard. Completely different story.

Sod might give you instant gratification, but hydro seeding can get you there too! This yard was hydro seeded in June and they’ve got fresh grass for fall. 🍂
