Important conversations are happening around the future of housing in New Hampshire.

Yesterday, we participated in a group meeting in Concord with the NH Homebuilders Association focused on the impact of Buy America, Build America (BABA) requirements and the significant challenges they are creating for workforce and affordable housing projects.

While the intent behind BABA is important, the current requirements have become a major hurdle for getting much-needed affordable housing built efficiently. The discussion also highlighted another critical issue facing our industry: the need for a larger, better-trained construction workforce.

Solving the housing shortage will take collaboration, practical policy solutions, and continued investment in the people who build our communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and continues to advocate for progress.

Progress is moving forward at Hale Crossing in Newport, NH.

An important milestone on any multifamily project is the placement of the slab on grade.

This moment marks a major schedule pivot point: the transition from underground work to the start of vertical construction. With the slab in place, the project begins to take shape above ground, bringing the team one step closer to delivering Hale Crossing.

Great work by everyone involved in reaching this key milestone! We look forward to sharing more progress as we move along.

Great projects don’t start when boots hit the ground — they start with a strong plan.

In our latest blog, we’re breaking down why pre-construction planning is one of the most important steps in keeping projects on budget, on schedule, and moving forward with fewer surprises. From early pricing and scheduling to collaboration and problem-solving, this phase sets the tone for everything that follows.

At Hale Crossing in Newport, NH, EGCON used Rammed Aggregate Piers (RAPs) to turn challenging site soils into a strong foundation for success.

RAPs are a ground improvement solution that strengthens weak or compressible soils by creating densely compacted aggregate piers that increase stiffness and load-bearing capacity below the structure. Instead of removing unsuitable soils and urban fill across the site, this approach allowed the existing materials to remain in place while still meeting the project’s bearing requirements.

The result: lower disposal costs, less truck traffic, reduced site disturbance, and a faster construction schedule.

By working with the site conditions rather than against them, RAPs proved to be the smart, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solution for Hale Crossing.

Looking forward to updating you on the project as we progress.
