I built new shelves for my home office to display all of my homestead's jams and jellies for sale. Can't wait to stock it up after the stain dries. I love bringing outdoor nature, inside. Just wait till I put a few of my propagated house plants on it too:) Lots of boards repurposed as well. I used extra long screws on everything and plan to attach them to the studs in the wall for safety.. but it's super sturdy for sure. Thoughts?

So u wanna clean out ur freezer and ur wondering....

What can I do with a bunch of miscellaneous frozen fruit that I have collected over time? ..

This includes but not limited to..

Ur apple, pear, peach ect. cores, pits and peels, the blackberry seeds that still have left over pulp on them from making seedless blackberry jam, lemon and limes saved after u cut the rind off (for dehydrating purposes) and juiced (for alcohol purposes)... lol bananas u missed when u were making homemade wine and bread with them, so on and so forth..

Make jam. Like I'm doing here.

Put all ur fruit in a pot and fill with just enough water to cover ur fruit or less if u want. I didn't even thaw mine out.. frozen fruit..in the big pot with some water. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer for a few hours.. the longer u cook it, the more the flavor.
Afterwards, run all of it through a food mill. I use a hand food mill that I found at a thrift years ago, super cheap. No electric needed, just good old elbow grease. Finished this part yesterday. Stuck in the frig for tomorrow. :)

Then today, measured it all up in cups. The recipe I discovered during my ten year canning journey is as follows..

UNIVERSAL JAM
3 cups prepared fruit
3 cups of sugar
And 2 Tbsp of bottled citrus juice.

The one I'm doing is the recipe x4.5
=13.5 cups of fruit
13.5 cups of sugar
and I used 10 Tbsp of bottled lime juice instead of lemon juice because I also wanted to use up an opened bottle of lime juice left over in the frig before opening a new bottle of lemon juice for my next fun fruit project.. had just enough too;p

cook it..
stirring often..

(Note # a little pat of butter helps with foam that forms while boiling.)

Start preparing ur canning jars, lids and bands.. bring ur jam up to 220° then can following safe water/steam canning directions.

Or... let it cool completely down to room temperature and fill containers to just simply put in ur frig. Then enjoy.

This is a great way to make ur pennies last a bit longer and I would love to hear ur postive thoughts:) Negative ones will be blocked:(
