Quick tip: every GFCI outlet in your house has a test and reset button on it — bathrooms, kitchen, garage, outdoors. Push the test button once a month. If it doesn't trip, or it won't reset afterward, it's not protecting you anymore and needs to be replaced. These wear out over years of normal use, so one that worked fine last winter isn't guaranteed to work this one. We keep replacement GFCI outlets in stock at the shop on Lake St, or call 907-435-0517 if you'd rather have one of our electricians swap it out.

🇺🇸 **NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001** 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11th, 2001, and the families whose lives were changed forever.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, first responders, military members, and ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage and selflessness that day and in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember their sacrifice.

**We will never forget.**
**United We Stand.** 🇺🇸

From all of us at **AC/DC Electrical Service & Supply — Homer, Alaska**, we remember and honor them today.

Panel full of breakers from three different manufacturers, and you're not sure what to buy? Bring the old one in — Square D, Siemens, Eaton, whatever's in there — and we'll match it up at the counter instead of you guessing off a part number online. It's one of the most common questions we get, and a mismatched breaker can trip incorrectly, or not trip at all, when it actually matters. Stop by the shop on Lake St or call 907-435-0517 before you buy one that doesn't fit.

Fall winds are picking up around Kachemak Bay, which means outage season is basically here. Before the first big blow knocks the power out, pull your generator out and actually run it under load for 20-30 minutes — don't just start it and let it idle.

Stale fuel from sitting all summer is the #1 reason generators won't start when you need them, so if yours hasn't run since spring, drain the old gas and add fresh with stabilizer. While you're out there, double-check that your transfer switch flips over cleanly — a sticking switch leaves you in the dark just as fast as a dead generator.

Breakers, wire, connectors, boxes, fittings — if it's a common electrical part, there's a good chance it's sitting on our shelves right here on Lake Street; no special order required. Need something bigger handled, like a panel upgrade, a new circuit, or troubleshooting that mystery flicker? Our licensed electricians take care of that too. One shop, parts and pros, right here in Homer. Stop by or call 907-435-0517 and let's get you sorted.

Quick fall reminder: give your GFCI outlets an actual test this week — the ones in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, and around the harbor/dock. Press the "test" button and the power should cut off instantly; then hit "reset" to bring it back. If it won't trip, or won't reset, that outlet has stopped protecting you from shock — time to swap it. Thirty seconds now beats finding out the hard way on a wet Homer evening. If yours fails, give us a call — we stock replacement GFCIs and can swap them out for you.

Seeing a "Starlink is misaligned" alert on your app this week? You're not imagining it — Starlink pushed a network-wide update ahead of new satellite launches, and it's asking a lot of dishes to realign, even ones that have been sitting fine for months. Nothing's broken, and for most folks it's a quick fix right in the app. But if your dish is up on a roof, a tall pole, or somewhere you'd rather not be climbing this time of year, we'll send someone out to handle the realignment for you.

Give us a call at 907-435-0517, and we'll get you on the schedule for a service call.

If you're running space heaters this Winter, don't plug more than one into the same outlet or extension cord — that's the number one cause of tripped breakers and overloaded circuits we see every winter up here. Give each heater its own wall outlet, and skip the extension cords if you can. If a breaker keeps tripping, it's worth giving us a call for a diagnosis, so we can get you squared away for the season!
