From my garden this morning.. I love the way this section looks...but it is not how I intended it to look. The iris I planted here are doing well. But perennials have fizzled out. So I just let the violets, catmint, fever few and bell flower take over. I summer some house plants in here. The spider plant sits atop part of an old fountain. It the background you can see my giant barn copula...might go on the garage roof someday.

I have been having trouble keeping perennials over the winter...but this spider wort is an exception. Each year it comes...

I grow in these buckets..They are about the size of a half wine barrel. I have eight more in addition to these. I put logs in the bottom and fill with planting mix. Each year as the logs decompose I have to add more compost and planting mix. I never use non organic filler in my buckets because it does nothing to improve the soil. My grass clippings that I mulch with are herbicide and pesticide free so are safe for vegetable gardens.
