Archadeck of Bradenton Sarasota Explores Turning "Covered" Into an Actual Room ...
A roof on its own? That's just shade. The "room" feeling sneaks in later, with the fans and the lights and the couch nobody wants to get up from.
Start with the cover, though, because everything else bolts onto it. Our most room-like option is a solid-roof porch or covered deck tied right into the house. Dry when it pours. Wire the ceiling however you like. Got a pool and want to see some sky? Then we'd probably point you toward a pergola, since the slats cut the glare without making a small yard feel boxed in. And for anybody whose yard turns into a no-see-um buffet around dusk, a screened porch on the seating side, with the grill just outside the screen door, is tough to beat.
