What’s underneath your floors matters, too. 🏠🔨

At Hartland Construction, quality isn’t just about the finishes you see—it starts with the structure behind them.

For this new home, we’re using open-web floor trusses, which offer some great advantages compared with traditional I-joists.

✔️ More room for mechanicals – The open-web design gives plumbers, electricians, and HVAC contractors plenty of space to run pipes, wiring, and ductwork through the floor system without having to drill or cut through structural members.

✔️ Long, open spans – Floor trusses can be engineered to span greater distances, helping create more open floor plans with fewer bearing walls, beams, and posts below.

✔️ Designed for the home – Each truss is engineered specifically for the project, allowing loads, spans, openings, and mechanical needs to be considered before the material ever reaches the jobsite.

✔️ A cleaner build – Planning those mechanical pathways into the floor system can make installation easier and help keep plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tucked neatly within the floor cavity.

There’s a lot more to building a quality home than what you see when it’s finished. The details hidden behind the walls and beneath the floors are just as important.

A kitchen made for something sweet. ❤️

There’s something extra special about building a new home for a farming family right on the farm they call home.

Throughout this build, our Hartland Construction crew had another reason to look forward to coming to work each day—the homeowner kept us spoiled with homemade sweets! Cookies, treats and fresh-baked goodies seemed to have a way of finding their way to the jobsite, and we certainly weren’t complaining. 😊

Now that this beautiful kitchen is complete, we have a feeling that baking is going to be even more enjoyable. With a spacious island, plenty of counter space, abundant cabinetry and a walk-in pantry just steps away, there’s lots of room for creating—and hopefully continuing—a few of those delicious traditions.

Thank you to these homeowners for trusting Hartland Construction LLC to build their new home, and for taking such good care of our crew along the way. We hope this kitchen is filled with family, memories…and plenty more homemade sweets for years to come.

✨ Small Changes. Big Impact. ✨

A kitchen refresh doesn’t always mean tearing everything out and starting over.

For this space, we are going to keep the existing cabinetry and focused on a few strategic updates — new Drama Marble laminate countertops, updated lighting, matte black hardware, and a new black faucet. Those relatively simple changes will completely refresh the look of the kitchen while working with what is already there.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful upgrades can make an older space feel brighter, more current, and pulled together — without the cost or disruption of a full kitchen remodel.

Sometimes the best transformation isn’t about changing everything… it’s about changing the right things.

Customers anxiously moving into their new workout space 🏋️‍♀️ that was formally an unfinished storage room in the basement. We left the ceiling exposed because of the various house mechanicals that hung lower than the bottom of the floor joists. Gave it a generous coat of black paint to make the room extra motivational 💪🏻. Also painted the plumbing penetrations coming out of the floor to seamlessly blend in with the space. Sherwin Williams color Iron Ore on the walls makes the white trim and door pop 💥! Beastly 1/2” rubber flooring will help absorb the plyometric training 🏃‍♂️. A wall of mirrors 🪞 to be installed later this week.

More space. A fresh exterior. One completely transformed home. 🏡

This project included an addition to the home along with a complete exterior upgrade, replacing the original vinyl siding with LP® SmartSide® siding.

One of the most important parts of adding onto an existing home is making sure the finished project feels like it was always meant to be there. The new LP SmartSide, contrasting gable accents, stonework, and crisp white trim helped bring the old and new portions of this home together beautifully—while giving the entire exterior a more distinctive, custom look.

And the upgrade goes beyond appearance. LP SmartSide provides the durability and performance homeowners need for Midwest weather, making it a great choice for a renovation like this.
