A jobsite visit isn't just for putting out fires. 🔧 Even when a project is on schedule and on budget, walking the site brings fresh eyes, strengthens relationships with the field team, and helps catch small issues early.

Check out our latest blog on why staying engaged — not just reactive — makes all the difference:

Regular jobsite visits are a cornerstone of strong construction project management. Learn why proactive site visits keep projects on schedule and on budget.

Meet one of the newest members of Team TDC — Joseph Jagodzinski! 👋

Joseph recently joined The Douglas Company’s Toledo office as an Estimating Coordinator, bringing a longtime interest in construction and an eagerness to continue building his career in the industry.

For Joseph, one of his biggest sources of motivation is his 4-year-old son, Jesse. Outside of work, the two enjoy taking small trips, visiting playgrounds and heading to the movies together. Joseph is also passionate about creative writing and giving back to his community, having volunteered with several local organizations over the years.

A few more Joseph fun facts: Traverse City is his favorite summer destination, Mediterranean food is his go-to, and he’s a Manchester United fan. ⚽

We’re excited to have Joseph on board and look forward to all he’ll bring to our Toledo team. Please join us in welcoming him to The Douglas Company!

Our Orlando team is growing! 👏 Meet Clayton Bross, one of the newest faces at The Douglas Company.

Clayton recently came on board as an Estimating Coordinator, bringing about five years of construction experience with him. An Orlando native and University of Florida alum, his connection to the industry started early thanks to his dad, who has spent more than 30 years in the building supply business. 🏗️

There’s plenty to know about Clayton beyond construction, too. He’s traveled throughout Asia, loves to golf and snowboard, rarely misses a Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Orlando Magic game, and is always up for a trip to the movie theater. His next bucket-list adventure? Snowboarding in Japan. 🏂

Most importantly, Clayton values time spent with friends and family and is excited to have found his next career home at TDC.

We’re glad you’re here, Clayton — welcome to the team!

🏗️ Project Update: Waldon Village Phase III

Great progress is happening at Waldon Village Phase III in Independence Township, Michigan! The $10.2 million, 46,316-square-foot development will bring new retail, restaurant, and childcare space to the community.

At the future Everbrook Academy, the slab has been poured and framing is underway. Meanwhile, the retail and restaurant buildings are moving into exterior finishes, with brick, storefronts, and siding on deck.

Shoutout to Dylan Lewis, Austin Ehlinger, and Chris Scott for keeping things moving toward completion! 👏

Meet one of the newest members of our Florida team — Rick Starr!

Rick joined The Douglas Company in mid-July as a Project Superintendent in our Orlando office, bringing valuable construction experience to Team TDC.

Construction has been part of Rick’s career from the very beginning, with his first job as a construction laborer and his grandfather serving as the inspiration to pursue the career he has today.

Outside of work, Rick enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Stella and Amanda, golfing, gardening, metal detecting and working on his classic car. He’s also an Atlanta Falcons fan and loves a trip to the mountains — with Maggie Valley, North Carolina, ranking as his favorite place he’s visited. ⛳🏔️

We’re excited to have Rick on board and look forward to all he’ll bring to our Florida team. Please join us in welcoming him to The Douglas Company!

We're celebrating two big promotions on our Toledo preconstruction team! 🎉

Andrew Barger has been promoted to Chief Estimator, and Amanda Keener has been promoted to Project Estimator — both after building their careers with us from the ground up. Andrew joined in 2015 as an Estimating Coordinator, and Amanda started as a co-op student in 2021.

As a 100% employee-owned company, moments like these are exactly what we love to celebrate. Read the full story on our website 👇 Link in Comments

There’s a lot more behind a construction project than what happens in the field. 🏗️👷

Senior Project Manager Brian Carter recently had the opportunity to step into the development side of a project — giving him a whole new perspective on the decisions, relationships, and moving pieces that bring a project to life.

In his latest blog, Brian shares what the experience has taught him and how seeing construction through a developer’s eyes has made him a better builder. 💡🤝

Working for a developer changed the way I look at construction. As contractors, we’re trained to focus on ex*****on — get the drawings, build the work, manage the trades, hit the schedule, protect the budget. Those things still matter. But when you work closely with a developer, you begin to und...

We’re excited to welcome Maverick Mäensivu, our newest Project Manager in The Douglas Company’s Florida office! 👏

An Orlando native, Maverick is a dog dad, avid hiker, fitness enthusiast, and — coolest of all — a pilot! ✈️ When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him flying, hitting the gym, spending time on the water, exploring the outdoors, or taking his Harley out for a ride. 🏍️🌊🥾

Maverick joined TDC in July and has already been a great addition to the team. We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes!

Help us give Maverick a warm TDC welcome! 🎉👋

⏳ The biggest schedule delays often start long before construction does.

When critical equipment like switchgear, generators, HVAC systems, or elevators have lead times measured in months—not weeks—proactive planning becomes essential.

In our latest blog, Senior Project Manager Connor Casper shares five strategies project teams can use to stay ahead of procurement challenges, reduce schedule risk, and keep projects moving forward.

From identifying long-lead items during preconstruction to maintaining open communication throughout fabrication and delivery, these best practices can make the difference between staying on schedule and falling behind.

While supply chain disruptions have eased compared to the challenges experienced several years ago, long-lead material procurement remains one of the most significant risks to project schedules. Equipment such as switchgear, transformers, generators, HVAC systems, elevators, and custom architectural...
