Wanted to share this home designed for Lot 11 in Marcella, Deer Valley East Village. This was designed as a ski-in/ski-out part-time residence for a family with the ability to host extended family, friends and business associates. It has everything you would want—multiple en-suite bedrooms, magnificent views, theater, golf simulator, game room, wellness spa/gym, and even a ski beach out back adjacent to the ski run for relaxing and entertaining after a long ski day. The challenge with this lot was how to actually make it true ski-in/ski-out. In order to do that we needed to go vertical and get the house out of the ground to meet the ski run above, which of course does make it a bit more expensive to build. In the end, the owner decided not to build in Marcella and sold the lot to a developer who wanted a less expensive spec home to build. Heartbreaking, but it happens. But happy about what we learned from designing such a challenging home and solving its many hurdles. Jory Morgan Walker
