Potential Winter Storm Update #3 from Saturday Morning through Sunday Afternoon
[6pm: 11/24/25] - We continue to monitor the latest trends on the models this evening, and currently, snow is favored across northern Illinois and surrounding areas this weekend. The snow will overspread the area from southwest to northeast during the morning hours on Saturday. Steady snow will fall Saturday afternoon and evening, continuing overnight, ending Sunday morning. The latest track, which has been pretty steady on the ensembles over the past several days, shows a swath of snow from central Iowa through northern and central Illinois, into northern Indiana and southern Michigan. Totals could range from 3-6 inches as it looks now, conservatively, with higher amounts possible. I don't think totals over 10 inches are likely, but someone could see decent snow from this system. Lake-enhanced snow is likely at times this weekend and next week for areas across northwest Indiana into southwestern Michigan, not so much for Illinois this time around, as winds will be mainly from the northwest. Travel impacts are expected Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning, both on the roads and air. After this system departs on Sunday, it's very unclear where the next system tracks and if that will impact us at all, but more opportunities for sticking snow are possible Monday through Thursday next week.
