When you live the life that we do you realize that spring isnt determined by a date on a calendar or a week out of school, but rather by the chorus of the early peepers in a nearby water hole and the twittling of Woodcock wings at dusk. We long for what's to come, but this right here, before the flush of green and the certainty of spring flowers... this is the absolute most beautiful time of the year. It signifies the very first proof of life- that we made it another round through the grips of a long winter, and it always fills my heart with hope. As Leopold brilliantly wrote "One swallow does not make a summer, but one skein of geese, cleaving the murk of a March thaw, is the spring".
Pictured is one of many antlers I stumble on while out and about working during my favorite time of the year. A keen eye will look past the fools gold and see why our work will be cut out for us on this project!
