Another successful removal in the books!

We’re incredibly proud of our crew for safely removing this large failing multi-stem linden tree that had experienced a major stem failure. One of the primary leaders had already split and failed, while the remaining stems showed significant structural concerns, decay, and included bark unions that left the tree at high risk for additional failure.

With homes, decks, landscaping, and neighboring property all within the drop zone, there was no room for error. Our team carefully dismantled the tree section by section using our specialized crane equipment, ensuring every piece was safely controlled from start to finish.

This is exactly why we invest in the best equipment and, more importantly, the best people. Their professionalism, communication, and attention to safety were outstanding throughout the project.

🚨 Emergency Tree Service | Pine K**b Music Theatre 🚨

When the call came in around 6:30 PM on July 3, a large tree had failed during an active concert at Pine K**b Music Theatre. High winds caused an approximately 36-inch diameter tree with a severely decayed base to fall across a primary access road, leaving it suspended on two adjacent trees and resting on a chain-link fence.

Situations like this require more than just chainsaws—they require experience, specialized equipment, and a crew that can safely work under pressure.

Our team immediately mobilized with our Grapple Saw Crane, Grapple Truck, Bucket Truck, Service Truck, and Ditch Witch equipment to safely stabilize and remove the hazardous tree. Using the crane, we were able to carefully lift the suspended tree off the fence, minimizing additional property damage while protecting the surrounding area.

The two compromised adjacent trees were also safely removed, all debris was processed and hauled away, and the roadway was reopened so traffic could safely resume.

Storm damage is unpredictable, but our goal is always the same:

🌳 Every Tree Has a Story… This One Taught an Important Lesson. 🌳

This week our crew was working in downtown Ann Arbor, removing a massive dead oak tree from a college housing property. If you look closely at the photos, you’ll notice the basketball court painted with the iconic Block “M”—a pretty cool reminder that we were working right in the heart of Wolverine country! 💙💛

While this removal required specialized equipment, including our 90-foot spider lift and grapple saw crane, the tree itself told a much bigger story.

Years of storm damage and old pruning wounds had left this oak vulnerable. Those injuries are often the starting point for one of Michigan’s most devastating tree diseases: Oak Wilt.

🌳 Did You Know?

In Michigan, oak trees should generally NOT be pruned between April 15 and July 15.

During this time, sap-feeding beetles are highly active and are attracted to fresh pruning cuts. If those beetles have visited an infected oak, they can carry the Oak Wilt fungus directly into a healthy tree. Once infected, many red oaks can decline and die within just a few weeks.

The safest time to prune oak trees is late fall through winter, when the insects responsible for spreading the disease are inactive.

Unfortunately, by the time many homeowners notice the symptoms, it’s often too late to save the tree.

This particular oak showed classic signs of a long history of damage—whether from storms, improper pruning during the growing season, or both. While we can’t say exactly what caused its decline, the old wounds were a reminder of how important proper tree care is.

Removals like this aren’t just about cutting down a tree. They’re about protecting nearby homes, fences, utilities, and people while preserving the health of the trees that can still be saved.
