WELL… WE MADE IT.

August 29th, 1997 was supposed to be Judgment Day.

Skynet becomes self-aware. Machines take over. Humanity has a bad day.

Luckily, Skynet dropped the ball.

And since today happens to be Judgment Day — AND it’s the 35th anniversary of my favorite movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which is back in theaters this weekend — I figured AHS had to acknowledge it.

So, since the machines haven’t taken over…

You still need to get that heating system tuned up.

AIR CONDITIONING WITH A HEAT PUMP. MAGIC? LET’S TALK ABOUT IT.

Here’s the “magic” behind it.

An air conditioner doesn’t actually create cold air — it moves heat from inside your home to the outdoors.

An air conditioning system with heat pump technology does the same thing, but it can also work in reverse.

During heating mode, the system pulls available heat from the outdoor air and transfers it inside your home. And yes, there’s still usable heat in the outdoor air even when it’s cold.

That’s where the energy savings come in.

Here in the Northeast, a heat pump can be a great supplement to your existing heating system. On milder winter days, it can reduce how much you rely on natural gas, fuel oil or propane. And when properly designed and sized, modern heat pump systems can continue operating efficiently at much lower outdoor temperatures.

Most modern heat pump systems also use inverter technology, which means higher efficiency during air conditioning season too.

So the savings aren’t limited to winter.

Higher-efficiency cooling in the summer. Less reliance on fuel during the winter. Year-round energy savings from the same system.

Not magic — just really good technology when it’s designed and applied correctly.

64° IN AUGUST… YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.

Saturday morning, August 15th — two no-cooling calls and our first heating call of the day.

We know everyone’s squeezing in those last vacations before the kids head back to school, and we’re officially entering that hoodie on, hoodie off time of year.

But this morning is a little reminder of what’s coming.

We’re about 6½–7 weeks away from heating season, and once that first real cold stretch hits, the phones change FAST.

Enjoy the rest of summer. Enjoy those last trips. Just don’t let heating season sneak up on you.

We’ll be ready. Make sure your system is too.

WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH, IT’S ABOUT KNOWING WHO’S IN YOUR CORNER.

I’ve had multiple business owner friends tell me over the years that I should share this side of things more often.

Not just the work. Not just the equipment, the jobs, the trucks or the day-to-day of running an HVAC company.

But the person behind it.

Because AHS has never really been your typical, fall-in-line HVAC company. There’s something real behind what we’ve built here, and a lot of that comes from the same mentality I’ve carried with me outside of work for a very long time.

HVAC gave me a chance at life.

Boxing has saved my life more times than anybody will probably ever know.

One gave me an opportunity to build something from nothing. The other has been what holds a lot of it together.

And when you mix the two, something special happens.

Heart. Preparation. Discipline. Teamwork. Perseverance. Showing up when you don’t feel like showing up. Refusing to quit when s**t gets tough. Constantly trying to become a better version of yourself.

That mentality doesn’t turn off when I leave the gym. It comes with me into every boiler room, attic, mechanical room, customer’s home and every decision I make building this company and the team around it.

As I prepare for something coming up very soon, I figured maybe my friends were right.

Maybe this side is worth sharing a little more.

Because whether it’s in business, in the ring or in life, eventually things are going to get tough.

And when they do, you better know who’s in your corner.

BEST WINDOW TINT GUY IN THE GAME. PERIOD.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Big shoutout to Frank at Frank’s Tint for coming through for me once again.

I’ve been a repeat customer of Frank’s for a while now. He’s tinted a couple of my vehicles over the years, including the AHS service van, the old pickup that’s unfortunately no longer with us 😂, and now the new Chevy Silverado.

Knowing I wanted to get the new truck done ASAP, Frank came through and expedited everything for me and got out here with his mobile service to get it handled.

Out of all the vehicles I’ve owned and had tinted throughout the years, this guy hands down does the best work I’ve had. Fast, efficient, never a bubble, never a peel, worth every penny, and the best part is he’s mobile. He comes to you.

Gotta give props when they’re deserved.

DEAD RODENTS. Inside the AC unit.

Yeah… this is exactly why maintenance visits matter no matter what time of year it is.

This customer originally called us out for a routine maintenance visit, but mentioned they had been noticing a weird odor whenever they ran the air conditioning.

Well, we found it.

Dead rodents inside the unit.

Preventative maintenance isn't just changing a filter, cleaning a coil and calling it a day. It's actually getting into the equipment, looking things over and figuring out what's going on before something turns into a bigger problem.

Sometimes it's a failing part. Sometimes it's a drainage issue. Sometimes it's electrical.

And sometimes apparently something crawled in there and never crawled back out.

Heating season. Cooling season. August. January. Doesn't matter.

Take care of your s**t.

THIS COULD HAVE BECOME A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD.

The old boiler failed and ended up oil-soaking the combustion chamber. At that point, the customer made the smart call — stop putting money into an unsafe, failed system and replace it.

We wrapped this one up Saturday with a new Williamson OVW-3 oil-fired boiler for their hydronic heating system, paired with a Bradford White 40-gallon indirect water heater.

Best part? We were able to get the entire job handled while the homeowners were away on vacation.

New boiler. New indirect. Fired, tested, and back up and running.

By the time they get home, they’ll have their heat and hot water ready to go like nothing ever happened.

Big thank you to our customer for trusting Advanced Heating Services with their home while they were away. That kind of trust means a lot to us.

Another one wrapped up.

Heating season is coming whether we’re ready for it or not. Get ahead of your s**t now.

Happy Sunday, champs.

Got something I really wanted to talk about here, especially for my tradespeople and the friends and family I've built relationships with throughout the years.

Just throwing this out there to my personal network because you never know who needs to hear it.

Any of my tradespeople I've worked with throughout the years — whether I worked with you, worked for you, you worked for me, we crossed paths somewhere along the way, whatever the case may be — if we're cool, my door is always open.

If you ever find yourself looking to make a change, thinking about relocating closer to the Hudson Valley or Westchester, or you're just at a point in life where you're looking for something different, reach out to me.

HVAC, plumbing, heating, mechanical, whatever. If you're good at what you do, you give a s**t about your work, and you're somebody I know and trust — and just as importantly, I'm somebody YOU know and trust — let's shoot the s**t.

Because that s**t is a two-way street.

A lot of us have been on a set of stairs together with a boiler between us. We've been stuck in some miserable attic together. We've held ladders for each other. We've been on those jobs where everything went wrong and somehow figured that s**t out anyway.

You don't forget those people.

I've been doing this since 2007. I've worked with a lot of people over those years. Some taught me things. Some learned things from me. Some of us learned together. Some I haven't talked to in years.

But I remember you.

AHS is growing. I need good people. Plain and simple.

Maybe you're happy where you're at right now. Good. Stay there. Maybe six months from now something changes. Maybe you're thinking about moving up this way eventually. Maybe you're just ready for a change of scenery.

Whatever it is, just keep me in the back of your mind.
