We said it Monday, and with the rain continuing, it’s worth saying again: please conserve water until the weather clears and the ground has time to dry out. 🌧️

Your septic system relies on the soil to absorb water from your home. When that soil is already saturated with rain, the system can struggle—especially if it’s older.

For now, spread out laundry loads, take shorter showers, and put off any water use you can. Every little bit helps.

Your septic system relies on the soil to absorb the water leaving your home. When rain keeps falling and the ground is already saturated, that water has a harder time soaking in. Older systems may be especially likely to show problems.

Please be extra mindful of how much water you use right now. Spread out laundry loads, shorten showers, and hold off on other heavy water use where you can.

We also want to explain why pumping may be difficult during wet weather. Most septic tanks aren’t close enough to a driveway for our truck to reach them from there. Soft ground may not support the weight of the truck, especially after it fills with liquid. If we can safely reach your tank from a driveway, we may be able to help; otherwise, we may need to wait for the ground to firm up.
