The Kampong is a National Tropical Botanical Garden located in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984 and is among the most famous homes in Dade County.
Built in 1916 by famed horticulturist Dr. David Fairchild, the property became home to an extraordinary collection of tropical plants gathered during his travels around the world.
Today, The Kampong continues its legacy as a destination for botanical education, art exhibitions, cultural programs, and community events. It features a collection of rare tropical fruit trees that includes dozens of varieties of mangoes and avocados.
Verea Clay Roof Tile is proud to be part of this historic property's recent renovation. We donated the clay barrel roof tile for this roof. It is installed in a pointed blend that complements the estate’s architecture.
Installed by the skilled craftsmen at A. Palmer Roofing, a Miami company with a history dating back to 1920, the roof reflects the permanence of natural clay and generations of roofing craftsmanship.
More than a century of South Florida history connects The Kampong and A. Palmer Roofing, with Verea Clay Roof Tile contributing to the property's continued preservation.
This is a fine an example of how quality materials and craftsmanship help protect historic places for generations to come.
