Growing your own vegetables this summer? When is the best time to water?

Water your vegetable garden in the early morning (before 10 a.m.). This gives plants time to dry, preventing fungal diseases, and allows moisture to soak into the soil before the afternoon heat.

Avoid daily watering; instead, water deeply 1–3 times a week so the soil is soaked 6 to 12 inches deep.

Deep watering encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil, where moisture is more stable. This helps plants become more resilient during heat, wind, and dry periods.
