Settle an argument for us.

Option 1: you build it. Months of decisions, every single one of them yours. You pick the tile, you move the kitchen wall two feet, you get exactly what you want. You also wait.

Option 2: you take the finished one. Our design team already made those calls, upgraded finishes and all, before anybody knew who was moving in. Same quality of house, none of the choosing, and you're in it a lot sooner.

Closing day out in Kensington Creek on Friday.

There's a strange quiet in a house right before the keys change hands. Everything's done, nothing's moved in yet, and it's just sitting there waiting on somebody.

Well, now it's got somebody. Months of decisions, a lot of site visits, and about a hundred questions later, this one's home.

Honestly, this is the best day of the job. Never gets old.

When people ask us for a single-level home, they are usually picturing something small. Most are surprised how spacious they are!

We have a great selection of single level homes, from compact plans right up to homes with four bedrooms and room to host everybody at Thanksgiving. Same idea throughout: the kitchen, the primary suite, and the laundry all sit on one floor, so nothing about the daily routine involves a staircase.

Here is what happens next: we walk the property with you. Soil and perc testing. We work together to design the home you've been dreaming of, then on to figuring out where the house actually wants to sit, which is rarely where people assume. Clearing. Well and drain-field design. County permitting. Then we build.

One of the more important questions to ask any builder: who exactly is my point of contact, and does that person change?

At Vertical Builders it is four professionals, and you meet them in order. A salesperson that will guide you through your selection of community and floorplan. A designer who guides you through personalizing your space to your taste. A construction manager that makes quality the priority the whole way through the build and keeps you updated throughout the process. Then a warranty manager for the first year after closing, because things come up and you should not have to chase anyone.

It is not glamorous. But it is the part people tell us mattered most.
