Several days before planting your new seed, water the area to a depth of 6 to 8 inches. Push a long screw driver into the ground. If you have minimal resistance, then you have the proper water saturation.
Immediately after your new seed is planted, you will need to water for 5 to 10 minutes to gently moisten the first several inches of soil.
If you’re not receiving any rainfall, you’ll need to water new grass seed twice per day for 5-10 minutes per zone or until the top couple inches of soil are moist.
As your new grass seed grows, you can water deeper and less frequently (this will encourage established grass roots to extend deeply into the soil).
When watering grass seedlings, gradually increase your morning watering sessions over time, while decreasing your evening watering. It can take anywhere between 14 and 28 days for new grass seed to begin to grow.
