For the last nine years, Newt has been back where he belongs—on a roller for Tarheel Paving.

He’s probably been paving longer than most of us have been alive, and there’s a reason we call him “Ole Faithful.” Newt leads the way when it comes to achieving compaction and making sure our asphalt cores come back passing.

Yesterday’s cores averaged an impressive 94.3%—another job well done by one of the best to ever sit behind the controls.

Fifteen years ago, Toby started at Tarheel Paving with a rake and a shovel in his hand. Through hard work, determination, and a willingness to do whatever it took, he worked his way up to become our Asphalt Plant Foreman.
Stories like Toby's are what Tarheel is all about-show up, work hard, and earn your opportunities.
Today, he's the guy making sure quality asphalt gets produced day in and day out for our customers.

8,000 tons milled and replaced over 5 nights!

A project of this scale takes planning, coordination, and a crew that executes at a high level. Extremely proud of our milling crew, our state crew and asphalt plant for delivering consistent production and getting it done right. It rides like a dream. On to the next one!

Our crews are wrapping up a very strong week! Especially our team at the asphalt plant. They locked in with scheduling, preparation, quality control and production and cooked up over 7,000 tons of the finest black top in WNC! This allowed our crews on the ground to wrap up some major projects way ahead of schedule. Big shout out to our guys up at the asphalt plant! Thank you for all your dedication and hard work!
