💦 Ever wonder how your pool automatically switches between Pool Mode and Spa Mode?

A big part of the magic happens with actuator valves. These motorized valves work with your pool automation system to automatically redirect water through different parts of your pool and spa.

For example, when you select Spa Mode, the actuators reposition the valves so water is pulled from the spa and returned to the spa allowing you to heat the spa without heating the entire swimming pool.

⚠️ If your spa is draining, overflowing, or not circulating correctly when you change modes, an actuator valve may be incorrectly positioned or not operating properly.

💦 Is your pool filter tank due for a cleaning?

Your filter is one of the most important parts of your swimming pool. When cartridges become clogged with dirt, debris, sunscreen, oils and other contaminants, water flow can be restricted making it harder for your system to keep the pool clean.

Regular filter tank cleanings help:

✅ Improve water flow and filtration
✅ Reduce pressure on your pump and equipment
✅ Help prevent algae growth
✅ Improve energy efficiency
✅ Extend the life of your pool equipment

Las Vegas heat, wind and landscaping debris can be especially tough on filter cartridges. PoolStar thoroughly cleans and inspects the filters, monitors their condition and provides photos after the cleaning. If the cartridges are damaged or nearing the end of their useful life, we’ll let you know.

💧 Do you know what the chemical levels in your pool should be?

Properly balanced water helps keep your pool clean, clear and safe while protecting the surface and equipment. These levels should be tested and balanced every week:

✅ pH: 7.2–7.8
✅ Chlorine: 1.0–3.0 ppm
✅ Total Alkalinity: 80–120 ppm
✅ Calcium Hardness: 180–220 ppm
✅ Cyanuric Acid (CYA): 30–80 ppm
✅ Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): Below 2,000 ppm

Chemicals can be added to correct many imbalances. However, when levels such as TDS, CYA or calcium hardness become too high, the best solution may be to partially or fully drain the pool and refill it with fresh water.

Pool Star tests and balances your pool water every week to help prevent algae, scaling, staining and unnecessary equipment damage.
