New Jersey was the 3rd state to join the union on December 18th 1787! That was 237 years ago!

It is ranked 47th in land area at 8,722.58 sq mi and and ranked 11th in population at 9,288,994! That’s a lot of people for such a small area!

The flag has their coat of arms on the flag which consists of a shield with three plows representing New Jersey's agricultural traditions, a forward-facing helmet, a horse's head at the crest of the helmet, the female figures Liberty (holding a staff supporting a stylized Phrygian cap) and Ceres (holding an overflowing cornucopia) representing the state's motto "Liberty and Prosperity" which is pictured below in the blue streamer along with the year of statehood ,1776.

The flag was adopted May 11th 1896 which was about 128 years ago! It was modified to its current display in 1928.

Pennsylvania became a state on December 12th 1787!! That was 237 years ago! It was the second state to join!

It’s ranked 33rd in land area at 46,055 sq mi and 21st in population at 13,002,700.

The flag was adopted June 13 1907! It’s blue with the state coat of arms in the middle. The Pennsylvania coat of arms features a shield with a bald eagle on top which represents Pennsylvania's loyalty to the United States and it is flanked by horses, and adorned with symbols of Pennsylvania's strengths which are a ship carrying state commerce to all parts of the world, a clay-red plough which is a symbol of Pennsylvania's rich natural resources and three golden sheaves of wheat representing fertile fields and Pennsylvania's wealth of human thought and action. An olive branch and cornstalk cross limbs beneath which are symbols of peace and prosperity. The state motto, "Virtue, Liberty and Independence", appears below!

North Carolina joined the union November 21st 1789 making it the 12th state to join! That was 235 years ago today!!

They are ranked 28th in land area at 53,819.16 sq mi and 39th in population at 10,439,388.

The flag was officially adopted on March 9th 1885 and modified June 24 1991 to its current design! The flag consists of a blue field with a white star in the center with “N” on the left and “C” on the right. Inscribed above the star is the date May 20, 1775, the date of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and inscribed below the star is the date April 12th 1776 which is the date North Carolina signed the Halifax Resolves. It was the first official action taken for independence from Great Britain! The flag also contains two bars of equal width, one in red and one in white.
