As it turns out, to a jealous dog, painting a baseboard looks a lot like petting a wall. This is unacceptable to the dog who now requires pets. Petting a dog and painting at the same time works out to be like rubbing your belly and patting your head. Soon you end up petting the wall and painting the dog. It's a mess. Pups and paint don't mix.
