Here’s what’s growing, and dying, in my zone 6B garden. Those cucumbers tho 👀

If you’ve ever saved zinnia seeds only to end up, disappointed the next year when they end up smaller than expected, it could be from some unintended cross pollination. A quick cut today could preserve your double blooms next year!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know about the first one until last year! Now it’s a winter staple. Here’s 5 seeds to start in September that may be missing from your Fall Garden list.

And because figuring out what to plant when can get confusing, I made a September Seed Starting Guide to help you figure out what you can start based on your growing zone. 🌱

This cooler weather has me thinking about Fall! So of course I had to head to the nursery to check out the Fall deals and I spotted three of my absolute favorite plants for adding Fall interest to your garden. But let me know what else you think should be on my list?

Today’s footage was filmed at New Leaf Nursery in Hayden Idaho.

What’s your least favorite thing about gardening?

I’m officially out of places to put plants… so I started growing UP. 😂🌱

I wish I’d had a 5-tier GreenStalk back when I was a balcony gardener, but even with a full garden, I’m still trying to squeeze every last bit of production out of my space.

30 deep planting pockets. Just a couple square feet of ground space.

And as the sun shifts and my garden gets increasingly swallowed by shade, that vertical space becomes even more valuable.

Because I’m not ready to stop growing just because my garden lost its prime sun spots. 😏

If you’re short on space, gardening on a balcony or patio, or just want to grow WAY more without adding more garden beds, this is such a good solution.

Some might consider these basic. I consider them Fall essentials. After all, standards become standards for a reason. Here are five of my top pics for seed starting in September as the day shorten and temperature temperatures get cooler. These should be sure bets for you in almost all Fall conditions. But if you want some more specific recommendations just ask! Or comment “GUIDE” and I’ll have a link to access my Free What to Grow in September guide sent to your message 😊

Fall is by far my favorite growing season! And I actually think it is one of the easiest for beginner gardeners to get successful harvests. If you’re going into your first Fall garden, there are just a few things to be aware of first that will keep your garden happy and thriving!

This season I wanted to rip my hair, and half my seedlings, out. Not because they died, but because they just sat there doing nothing… for weeks. And I know the culprit. Root Binding. My seedlings literally strangled themselves. So enough was enough.

I’ve been wanting to give my seed starting trays an upgrade for forever, and specifically I have been dying to try this these 6 cells from Botanical Interests, ask my family, they’ve been on my Christmas list for years.

Why? The slits on the side and the “air pruning” they allow for. Meaning roots go straight down instead of doing the spiral of death!

If you’re like me, you don’t have weeks to wait for your fall seedlings to sort themselves out. Fortunately these Epic 6 Cells and bottom trays are 20% off right now for Labor Day. And using my code LETSGROWGARDENING at checkout is one of the only ways to stack an extra 5% off your total.
