Bushes, brush, and tall grass can take over a yard before you know it. On this job, we ripped out the overgrown bushes against the siding, cleared out the thick brush near the shed, gave the remaining bushes a professional trim and shape, and finished with a clean cut across the whole lawn.

Who loves Mondays? WE DO! Especially when it means kickstarting the week by working with a repeat customer!

Back on the job in Newport, NC, helping out another returning client! For this project, we brought in fresh dirt to fill in and level out those stubborn low spots, then lined the edge with large riprap stone to maintain that clean, coastal look while protecting against erosion and washout.

Sneaking in some dirt work between the rain showers. 🌦️🚜

This weather has definitely been keeping us on our toes, but we’re making the most of every dry window to keep this project moving forward.

Site prep isn’t always pretty, especially after a week of rain, but good work means adapting to conditions and finding solutions, not cutting corners.

PSA: “Cleared” Doesn’t Always Mean “Ready to Build”

This is the second project in less than a month where we’ve been hired after a property owner was told that stump grinding was all that was needed before new construction.

Phase 1 is now complete.

What looked like a build-ready lot was actually full of buried stumps, root balls, and organic material beneath the surface. Those materials eventually decompose, causing settlement that can lead to cracked slabs, uneven floors, and foundation issues.

These photos show the difference:

📸 Photo 2: One of the large root balls we removed that was still underground.

📸 Photo 3: Phase 1 complete. Unsuitable material has been removed, and the site is now ready for the next step of proper site preparation.

We remove trees. We clear land. We prepare building pads. But those are three different scopes of work, and each requires a different approach.

If you’re planning a shop, garage, barn, or any structure with a concrete slab, don’t assume a cleared lot is a build-ready lot.

Building success starts below the surface.

We recently took down this tree for a customer, but we don't just stop when the wood hits the ground. As you can see from the photos, we hauled away all the debris, raked the grass, and left the yard completely clean and spacious!
