-Adults grow to 9–18 inches
-They eat slugs, earthworms, and snails
-Almost never bites. When disturbed, it may flatten its head, coil, and strike with its mouth closed, leading some to believe it's venomous( one of them copper headed rattle moccasins).

I find these often around residential landscapes and rodent bait boxes. Most homeowners will find them during landscaping/maintenance projects.
Best practice if found on the exterior of a home is just walk away for a few minutes and it’s likely to disappear.
These snakes are harmless, so let’s not kill what doesn’t need killin’.
