“You aren’t just who you are while you’re here. You have your family, your friends, and all the other important things out there. So we want to keep you safe when you are here.” -Jon Schiedel today as he led Black Tie Component’s first Quarterly Town Hall.

We were able to come together as a company for a fabulous lunch from Creekside Meats and a presentation on where Black Tie was, is, and projects to be as we are winding down the 2026 construction season! 📈

Jon also covered different safety reminders for employees, got to shout out the growth Black Tie has seen in Q4, and some exciting things to look forward to in the coming months…stay tuned. 😆

It’s National Manufacturing Week! 🇺🇸

Behind every wall panel, floor system, and roof truss that leaves our facility is a team of people who know how to build.

This week, we’re recognizing the skilled hands, hard work, and attention to detail that help keep projects moving across our region.

We’re proud to manufacture right here in Hartford, South Dakota, and even prouder of the people who make it happen every day.

Here’s to the builders, makers, problem-solvers, and next generation of skilled tradespeople who keep American manufacturing strong.

National Manufacturing Week 🇺🇸

Manufacturing is about more than the final product. It’s about the process, and each person who is involved in building that final product.

At Black Tie Components, every truss, wall panel, and component that moves through our facility represents a larger goal: take more work off the jobsite and move it into a controlled manufacturing environment.

That helps builders spend less time solving problems in the field and more time doing what they do best — building.

This National Manufacturing Week, we’re proud of the team, technology, and processes behind every component that leaves our facility.

Built with precision. Driven by process. Made right here in South Dakota.

Born and raised in South Africa, Wynand van Aswegen brings more than 18 years of experience in the roof truss industry to Black Tie Components. His background spans nearly every side of the business, including design, estimating, production, and operations.

Family is at the center of Wynand’s life as a husband and father of two kiddos. Before making the move to South Dakota, Wynand and his family lived in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Outside of work, he enjoys anything that challenges him to solve a problem— including Rubik’s cubes—highlighting his attention to detail and passion for finding ways to work smarter.

At Black Tie Components, Wynand is looking forward to working alongside the design and estimating team as the Design Manager, building on the strong foundation already in place, and finding ways to make processes faster and more consistent for customers.

He’s also excited to put down roots and become part of the Hartford community and we are sure excited to have him! 😃
