Faculty, Staff, Leaders of the Community, and Elected Officials trudged through the mud for The Massanutten Technical Center Groundbreaking Ceremony. We are excited to partner on this project with Rockingham County Public Schools - VA Massanutten Technical Center, and a strong team of subcontractors.

Great buildings start with Nielsen and great futures will start because of MTC!

Last week, Nielsen had the chance to participate in not one, but two WORLDS OF WORK events. The event on Wednesday had over 2,400 7th graders come through Augusta Expo to learn about different career fields. Friday's event exposed over 1,500 8th graders to a variety of careers. Students played a "Do You Know Your Tools" matching game and got the chance to use a battery operated drill to test their skills!

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Doug! After 22 years at Nielsen, Doug has worn a lot of hats (and occasionally shaved his head! ), from working in the spray booth to helping out in the field and installing cabinets on our job sites. We also hear he's been known to help his neighbor mow their grass, shovel snow or take their newspaper to the door and we're not surprised - he's quick to lend a hand. We’re grateful for all the experience, hard work and personality he brings to the team. Get to know Doug a little better below! 👇

At Nielsen, every employee-owner contributes to the work we're able to deliver. From estimating to the closeout, everyone helps move the project forward for our clients.

We are grateful to have a committed team that take pride in their work!

We are kicking off Employee Ownership Month at Nielsen! This year is extra special - we are celebrating 25 years of our ESOP. This whole employee ownership thing started taking shape back in 2001 thanks to a majority owner looking to retire. We will be celebrating all month long with educational sessions for our employees, games, prizes and lots of fun because our owners deserve to be celebrated!

This week we're welcoming a new teammate to Nielsen; Welcome Shawn!

Shawn is joining our Millshop team and bringing plenty of experience with him. He's been building custom cabinetry and millwork for years. When he's not working, there's a good chance you can catch him working on cars and drag racing. Welcome to the team Shawn!

We had a lot of fun participating in Mini-Golf For Kids' Sake to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County. Because of the community, they were able to raise over $10,000 to help support mentoring for local youth. How great is that?!

Legacy Cabinets & Millwork is a division of Nielsen Builders that delivers custom cabinetry and millwork. Legacy holds a cooperative term contract with JMU and provides services outside of Nielsen's scope. When you think of Nielsen, think of Legacy for any of your custom cabinet or millwork!

We kicked off Career Fair Season yesterday at the JMU College of Integrated Science and Engineering Career Fair and then headed over to Stuarts Draft High School for a College and Career Fair.

The number one question we got yesterday was, "What does it mean to be employee-owned?" It was great to be able to tell students what that means and how they can one day be an owner.

Up next, Virginia Tech Myers-Lawson School of Construction in October!
