From the storm comes a new vision.
This past week has been a whirlwind. In the 22 years I have lived here, I have never seen a storm like this. The ice accumulation created conditions that were unlike anything we have faced before.
Between the solid ice and the sheer volume of calls, we had to make tough calls to prioritize those who needed the most help while keeping our team alive and healthy. Safety for our clients and our selves will always be first.
But seeing the deep need in our community has me reflecting. Between two posts I made in community groups this week, the response was incredible. Over 2,000 of you engaged with those posts—liking, commenting, sharing, and saving them. Reading your kind words was refreshing during such a difficult and stressful time. Thank you.
I also want to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 5 years. You have helped us reach this official milestone, and your support means the world to us.
But this storm also reminded me of the gap we see every season. We constantly receive calls from neighbors who have aged out of the ability to mow or shovel, or who have physical limitations, but they simply can't afford professional help.
My children are part of my team, and even my wife and two youngest came out to help during this storm. We try to teach them the importance of helping others, but as a business owner, I am constantly torn between the need to raise prices to survive and the desire to help our vulnerable neighbors.
After 5 years in business, this storm has led me to consider an alternative path forward. I want to align Serious Lawn closer to my true beliefs: People > Profit.
The Idea (Just an idea for now): What if we crowdsourced care for the elderly, disabled, and physically limited in our valley?
I’ve crunched the numbers, and the potential impact is incredible:
At the Minimum: If just 350 people (roughly the number of likes on my post about kindness) chipped in $7/month, we could provide full-service care—mowing, weeding, snow removal—to at least 12 neighbors in need.
The Dream: If all 2,000 people who engaged with us this week joined in, we could scale this program to help more than 70 neighbors who are physically unable to care for their homes.
Any profit from this work would be redirected entirely to expand the program to cover more people.
I am not asking for a donation today. I am only collecting data to gauge interest.
The Plan for Transparency: If we move forward, we will set up a separate bank account, strictly for these funds, and provide annual reports on every dollar collected and every service performed.
I need your feedback. Please fill out the form at the link below to let me know if this is something you would support. Please use the form link rather than messaging us, so these responses are filtered separately from our normal business operations.

I will follow up with everyone who completes the form to share the results and let you know if we have enough support to move forward.
