Ever notice windows that look foggy, hazy, or “dirty” no matter how much they’re cleaned?
A lot of times, the issue actually isn’t the outside surface of the glass at all.
It can be a failed window seal between the panes of glass.
We run into this pretty often while cleaning windows around Cincinnati, especially on older windows or windows that get a lot of sun exposure.
We’re also starting to see this more frequently in newer homes and newer builds as well. In some cases, those windows may still be under manufacturer warranty, so it can be worth checking before assuming the window needs to be fully replaced.
Once the seal fails, moisture, haze, and buildup can get trapped between the panes, and unfortunately it usually can’t be cleaned from the inside or outside because it’s inside the sealed glass unit itself.
I shot a quick video explaining what this looks like because a lot of homeowners aren’t sure what they’re seeing.
One thing that makes us a little different:
We’re not just there to clean glass and leave.
If we notice issues while servicing your home — failed seals, hard water staining, oxidation, damaged screens, deteriorating caulk, or other exterior concerns — we’ll point them out and help educate you on what you’re seeing.
And if it’s something outside of our scope, we’re always happy to recommend trusted local companies or contractors who may be able to help.
Hopefully this helps someone 👇
