The Lancaster County Master Gardeners are partnering with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to connect community gardens with local food pantries through the Sow & Share program.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or planting your very first tomato, you can make a difference by growing extra vegetables, herbs, and fruits to donate to participating food pantries throughout Lancaster County. Master Gardeners are available throughout the growing season to answer your questions and help you succeed.

How is your garden coming along? We're inspired to get a second planting in our gardens so that we can not only nourish ourselves, but nourish our communities with any extra produce we may harvest this season. A second round of veggies like carrots, radish, beets, collards, and kale can be planted in August. Will you plant one more for our community? 🍅🌱

‼️The York Garden Tour is just a little over two weeks away, on Saturday, July 11! The Penn State Master Gardeners of York County have lined up a very special garden route this year, with each home showcasing unique and beautiful home landscapes and a wide variety of best gardening practices, covering all types of gardens! 💐🌺🌻🪻🌳🥦🍎🥕

The York Garden Tour starts at the York County Parks John Rudy Park demonstration gardens (400 Mundis Race Road, York PA by the parks office), where you will pick up your garden tour program. From there, it's a choose your own adventure, stopping at the gardens you want to visit. The tour is 9 am - 3pm, allowing for plenty of time to enjoy each stop, and even stop for lunch along the way when you need, without missing a beat.

This is the perfect opportunity to combine your gardening "How do I...?" questions with a lesiurely day out and about with your friends and family, and learning from Master Gardeners and home gardeners about all types of gardens.

We will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for the York County Food Bank at the York Garden check-in from 9:00 - 11 am!
