Interesting article if you are planning to plant any trees around your home. I’ll add another tree to the list Hackberry if you have a Hackberry within striking range of anything you value I would recommend removing it before it splits or falls. They are great trees in the woods for birds and squirrels but not in your yard they are extremely apt to failure.

Our first year is in the books. Thank you to everyone that had us work for them this year. We are looking forward to next year and will be getting bigger and better. This pine tree ended up being a lot taller than we thought. We worked everything down that we could reach but there was still a lot of tree left above us. So we gave our friends at Double B Tree a holler and they came over and helped us to get the top down. Thanks to the homeowner for having us do this job and a big thanks to Brett and Double B Tree for the assist.

The rain held off for us so we were able to get out and get this job completed today. The customer wanted one pine tree trimmed up and two removed sure does look a lot different. If you have any trees you want taken care of give us a call and we’ll come out and give you a free quote.

Tulip poplar is starting to bloom. This is the prettiest they’ll be all year. They usually aren’t very impressive in the fall but they make great shade in the summer. This is a picture of an oak gall these are most likely gouty oak galls. They are formed by a wasp laying eggs in the twigs. Pin oaks are especially affected by these they are unsightly but don’t usually harm a mature tree. There is no effective treatment but these may still have larva even if they fall to the ground so picking up the ones on the ground and pruning the ones you can reach and burning them could help reduce them. If you have an ash tree that is dead or dying there is a high probability that it was caused by the emerald ash borer. The borer leaves a small D shaped hole when it exits the tree as you can see in two of these pictures. The other two pictures show the damage the larva do under the bark preventing the tree from transporting nutrients and ultimately dying. These trees get extremely brittle and dangerous when dead so if you have a dead one or one that is starting to die you should be making a plan to get it removed.
