What does your happy place look like?

Maybe it’s floating in the pool on a sunny afternoon. Dinner outside with the family. Friends gathered around the fire. Or a quiet spot to put your feet up at the end of the day.

The best outdoor spaces aren’t just beautiful. They’re designed around the way you want to spend your time.

Let’s create your happy place. 717.574.6949

We loved hearing this feedback from a customer who trusted us with their pool decking. A special shoutout to Matt, Josh, John, and Tucker for showing up ready to work, keeping the homeowner informed, and making sure they knew what to expect each day.

That kind of communication and attention to the customer experience is just as important to us as the finished product.

“Huge shoutout to the guys over at DJR! After searching high and low for a reputable pool hardscaping company, I came across DJR and I am sure glad that I did. I hired them to do my pool decking and they did not disappoint! Matt, Josh, John, and Tucker showed up on site each morning ready to work. They were approachable and had no problems walking me through what they planned to accomplish each day. If any of these guys show up for your project, you are in good hands. Highly recommend!”

WOW!! This project came with a special set of challenges from steep slopes, super limited access, and weather delays.
But the end result is absolutely perfect.
Once again DJR is extremely thankful for the opportunity to work with these amazing clients. THANK YOU!

What the heck is gunite, anyway?

If you’ve started researching custom pools, you’ve probably come across the term. Gunite is a concrete-based material that’s applied through a high-pressure hose over a reinforced steel framework to form the pool shell.

Why use it? Unlike a pre-formed pool shell, gunite allows for a high degree of customization. The pool can be designed around the property, with flexibility in its shape, size, depth, and features.

And yes, the construction stage looks a little different from the beautiful finished pool you’re picturing. 😄 But this is where that custom pool really starts taking shape.

The more you know before starting an outdoor project, the easier it is to understand your options and make the right choices for your backyard.

Quick backyard planning tip: Think about the gathering before the fire. 🔥

If a fire pit is part of your outdoor plans, start by thinking about how many people you want to comfortably gather around it. That one decision can help guide the size, layout, and placement of the entire space.

A little planning upfront can make a big difference in how well your backyard works once it's finished!

Some of the best backyard transformations start with, “We’re not sure this is even possible.”

The Horn family had been told that the slope of their yard could make adding a pool difficult. But after sitting down with Dan and talking through what they wanted, a plan started to take shape.

The result? The pool they had dreamed about, plus a new fire pit patio they decided to add after seeing their backyard come together.

Thank you, Angela, for the incredible review and for trusting DJR. We love turning challenging spaces into backyards families can enjoy for years to come.
