IN REMEMBRANCE,
We all remember where we stood that moment as the realization swept over us there was an attack underway. We watched in horror as buildings crumbled to the ground. Our hearts faltered as they were gripped in the thought of those WE love jumping to their death. We as ONE in a global collective wept hearing the heart wrenching calls and the stories of final farewells.
What can anyone say to that?
We can only morn loss and choose gratitude.
We at HoHonest Abe Roofing Rio Grande Valleyre so very proud of the men and woman who served selflessly that day and those following weeks months and years of trial!
We choose gratitude in recognition of the beautiful unity that followed. The American spirit shined brighter through chaos for the globe to see.
I, having worked for decades with a company housed there in one of the World Trade Center buildings; and having visited many times, with colleagues affected and/or killed in this tragedy… it hit VERY close to home. I shared tears and prayers with and for tooo many.
I WAS AT A LOSS….but we all were!
I found myself immeasurably comforted by a statement made by Janet Partials a news correspondent who is first and foremost, a Christian. I have found myself over the years since, return, returning to the words of encouragement she shared that day. What was it? She reminded me? The promise that God did not pace His throne room wondering what to do next. He was not shocked. He was not scared. But it did break his heart. He was there with them. He remains here with us still… today.
Especially when we cannot sense His presence, He is faithfully to us, working on our behalf, through the trials of our broken world, to restore all that has been taken from us.
He planned for us to live in Eden. Yet today we live in a fractured world.
E pluribus unim is more than a simple diatribe or quip. It is an ethos, a calling. From many, one. It is to what we each want to aspire.
Let us each allow their sacrifices made twenty-five years ago, to live as an eternal flame in our actions today… as we “Never Forget”.
Lord,
I pray for the continued peace and strength for those who lost love ones and friends that fateful day. I pray we reclaim unity for our nation and for the RGV. I pray we at H.A.R. make a difference where we stand. I pray You use me as an instrument of good. I ask You would root my leadership in wisdom, grace and resolve. I pray for my team and our clients both new and old, that You would protect them each and keep them safe. I pray for my peers in roofing, that they would grow and prosper and join us in raising the bar for our industry. I pray for small businesses here in the RGV and for the leaders here City of Harlingen and across the RGV and for my colleagues at Greater Chamber, Rotary. That you would make their paths straight and provide light to their footsteps. I pray for the Church leadership. That they would each carry their torch well in the Calling You have brought them to. I pray for pastors, priests and rabbi’s. For their wisdom and purity. I pray for our national leaders that they too would walk well in Your Spirit, to facilitate the charge and duties of their offices. I pray for the promises within ”e pluribus unum”, that its great reward would return to a nation who would humble itself and return to You. That we as citizens would resolve our division, to hear each other, listening in grace. That we might grow in community with each other. That we would live our essentials in unity, our differences in liberty, and in all things we would demonstrate love and respect.
In Your precious name I pray.
Amen
