Running through the SolarEdge and LG Resu 9.8kwh battery combos and it looks like all are charging today.

SolarEdge has not given us the update on what happened but my hunch - since it was after we alerted SolarEdge - is that a firmware update caused unintended consequences.

when I was an Army Aviator, I often wondered why it took so long to verify and validate firmware updates before they were pushed to te helicopter fleet...now I'm thankful they did.

I'll share more as I learn the underlying issue.

Hey StorEdge / LG Resu 9.8 battery owners. We noticed that starting several days back that the LG battery would not recharge while the system was connected to the grid. Not even on sunny days.

I have the exact same setup: 1x SolarEdge 'Storedge' inverter and two LG 9.8kwh batteries (the one that is wall-mounted) so when I noticed this did some "experiments" in coordination with the LG tier-2 technicians.

Bottom line - we think there was some firmware unintended consequence. We know...

- the battery charges and discharges in backup mode just fine
- the battery will not charge when the inverter is grid-connected
- a full AC power-cycle of the inverter does not help as if some "Control-Alt-Delete"
- SolarEdge suggested changing profile to a new one and then going back minutes later. This did not work for me. But it suggests that SolarEdge might be aware this is an issue.

There is just no way that so many Storedge / 9.8 owners simultaneously lost battery charging capability. More to follow - we're hot on SolarEdge to resolve.

As Texas and the Federal government do all they can to reduce solar and wind, we are now entering a period of energy inflation that will run between 5 and 6 percent.

It used to be 3.43% and for some time I used 2% in our sales proposals.

Those days are over.

Solar at your home will be an excellent investment but only if done at the right price and size.

Holey Moley it's the Golden age for home batteries.

We knew equipment pricing might start dropping when the Federal tax credit expired but the price just for the battery storage here is excellent and it's like getting a free $6,000 inverter. Wow.

This is the foundation of a whole-house backup system. We'd add solar with code-required 'Rapid Shutdown' at each panel, complete the necessary interconnection agreement, and program it to the internet for monitoring and the cost might be $31-36k, all in.

Systems like this used to quote out at $50k.

Don't for one minute think that solar is too expensive with the tax credit going away.

Going through the fleet of battery owners right now but my attention is constantly drawn to some of our fully off-grid customers because they absolutely 100% depend on our systems for heat on this cold night.

For now almost 10-years, two of the nicest people you'll ever meet live in the rocky hills west of Boerne fully off-grid.

Their 100kwh Outback battery bank is getting a boost from a fully automated generator that was triggered for automatic start when the battery voltage dipped down after three days of little sun, combined with higher power demands tonight.

Really pleased to see this doing what it needs to be. Wishing you the very best tonight.

When you own your solar battery when it's 24F going to 17F, you know it's full for any emergency.

And not discharged by some 3rd party company that put it at your home, only for them to discharge it to the grid so they make 30+ cents per kwh while you hope the grid power holds up for you and you don't really need it.

Looks like a big ice event on its way.

For our energy storage customers, consider putting your systems to retain 100% state of charge through the event so you always have full batteries ahead of a possible grid disruption.

Pretty easy to do on the Enphase and SolarEdge apps and many of you already programmed for this automatically.

Sol-Ark not as 'user-friendly' unfortunately to change this setting and will take going through the app parameter settings. I'll post screenshots later but if any of you want me to do it remotely from here, let me know and I'll make the adjustment. Call the office or leave a comment for us to do this.

Right on time the team delivers this Enphase and Enphase Energy storage on this homebuilders personal home.

Making power now and I suspect this will be net-zero from now until the Spring Parade of Homes where you can see in person.
