This has been a challenging year in the gardens. In my 68 years of gardening and farming I have never experienced the losses that have happened. The weeds that took over as I could not work in the garden due to my sholuder surgery. Mark could not help as his hip took him out of work for 6 months. The creepng buttercup killed all the St Johns wort and allot of other plants I use to make medicine. The childrens teaching garden has been out on hold until next summer. The 9 year old lavender had to go. The mice ate all the food plant starts in the green house. I had to purchase plants to replace those and they died. I have replanted the 3 sisters garden with seed and hope for a crop. Our weather here has been erratic. We did not get the freeze the we get that takes out slugs and many of the plants we call weeds. I collected over 400 slugs past few days. There were 11 on one Dhaila Plant. The changes in our Mother Earth or Sun as in our own bodies and our world are challenging. I am learning to be in acceptance to the changes and give gratituide to Devas of the garden, Nature Spirits that take care of our land here and my team of Spirit Helpers. I am greatful for the flowers and herbs that did survive. People come to see the garden comment how beautiful it is and that reminds me yes it is beautiful. We give Gratituide to All the plants, incests,rocks, birds and all sentient beings that share this land with us. In talking with other gardeners and farmers they are facing similar issues. My relative Dr. Fu-Kiau Bunseki always said "Gardening Changes you DNA". I work barefoot allot and wear Earthing grounding shoes and that truly is the key, connecting with our Mother the Earth and know we are always taken care of opens my heart to the lessons she has to teach us.
