PCS recently supported work at Building 655 on Hunting Avenue in Hampton, VA, as part of the MUHJ Repair Old Steam Plant project.

Our team provided asbestos abatement and selective demolition services to help prepare the existing structure for its next phase. The scope included removing asbestos-containing floor tile and mastic, along with selective demolition throughout the space β€” including walls, roofing, stairs, doors, windows, fixtures, mechanical equipment, and sections of concrete slab.

Projects like this may not always be the most visible once the final work is complete, but they play a major role in moving a renovation forward. Before new work can begin, spaces need to be carefully cleared, controlled, and made safe for the teams coming in next.

A big thank you to our field team for their planning, attention to detail, and safe ex*****on on this project.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and in construction, this conversation hits close to home.

This is an industry built by people who are expected to be tough, dependable, and ready to push through hard days. But the truth is, the weight someone is carrying is not always visible from the outside.

Construction continues to be one of the industries most affected by su***de, which means mental health cannot be treated like a separate conversation from safety. It belongs in the same room. It belongs on the jobsite. It belongs in the way we look out for each other.

Safety is not only about hard hats, harnesses, equipment, and procedures. It is also about the person wearing the gear. The person showing up early. The person staying focused under pressure. The person going home to a family, a friend, or someone who depends on them. This year’s Mental Health Awareness Month theme is β€œMore Good Days, Together.” For us, that means remembering that no one should have to carry the hard days alone.

At PCS, we believe taking care of each other means paying attention, checking in, and making sure people know help is not far away.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 for free, confidential support available 24/7.

We’re excited to officially announce the winners of our PCS Safety Promise Contest: Bryan Adams and Jennifer Cordon!
Their responses to what Recognize β€’ Respond β€’ Respect means to them were a powerful reflection of what safety culture looks like at PCS every day. Bryan’s reminder that β€œno task is so urgent that it justifies compromising safety” and Jennifer’s focus on proactively identifying hazards and respecting teammates truly stood out to us.
Their words represent what safety is all about: staying aware, speaking up, looking out for one another, and making sure everyone goes home safe.
Thank you to everyone who participated and shared your perspective.

Last week during Construction Safety Week, we turned a little friendly competition into a reminder of something that matters every single day on our jobsites: organization matters.

From keeping materials in order to maintaining clean and safe work areas, the crews that stood out showed how much pride they take in their work and in looking out for one another. An organized jobsite doesn’t just look better β€” it helps prevent hazards, keeps everyone more aware of their surroundings, and creates a safer environment for the entire team.

To thank the winning crews, we stopped by with coffee and donuts β€” a small gesture to recognize a big commitment. But the truth is, there’s no reward greater than knowing everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.

Thank you to all of our crews for the effort they put in every day, and congratulations to the teams who won this fun competition while proving that safety and organization go far beyond just one week.

As Construction Safety Week comes to a close, we’re reminded that safety is never just a one-week conversation. It’s something carried into every jobsite, every meeting, every decision, and every task throughout the year.

This week gave us the opportunity to pause, reflect, learn from one another, and reinforce the responsibility we all share to look out for ourselves and the people working beside us.

In an industry like ours, safety goes far beyond policies and procedures β€” it’s about trust, accountability, and making sure everyone goes home to their families at the end of the day.

Thank you to every employee, supervisor, crew member, and partner who took part in this week and who continue to make safety part of the culture we build every single day.

Last Friday, we held our annual Construction Safety Week meeting β€” an important tradition at PCS and a reflection of the value we place on the safety and well-being of every member of our team.

These meetings are a reminder that safety is more than procedures and policies. It is a responsibility we carry every day through the decisions we make, the practices we follow, and the way we look out for one another on every jobsite.

This year, we had the honor of welcoming guest speaker Lee Shelby, whose powerful message left a lasting impact on our teams. Through his personal story and experience, he reminded all of us of the importance of safe work practices, personal awareness, and taking responsibility for our own safety and the safety of those around us.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s meeting possible and to all of our employees for continuing to put safety first every single day.

Day 2 of Construction Safety Week.

This week is a reminder that safety isn’t just part of what we do β€” it’s at the core of everything we do.

Our HR team shares an important message: every jobsite, every task, every decision comes back to protecting one another. This year’s theme β€” Recognize. Respond. Respect. β€” is about staying aware, taking action, and looking out for the people around us.

Because safety isn’t just policies or procedures β€” it’s a mindset. It’s how we show we care about our team every single day.

At the end of the day, what matters most is making sure everyone goes home safe.

We’re all in β€” together, Team PCS.

Some projects leave you with more than a completed scopeβ€”they leave you with a view you do not forget.

Last week, we wrapped up the removal of the smokestack at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, PA. Over the course of three weeks, the project moved from site protection and setup to final dismantling, with careful coordination every step of the way.

Selective demolition often means working in unique environments, and every now and then it gives you those incredible vantage points that remind you how different every project can be. High above the site, surrounded by steel, structure, and skyline, our crews get to experience perspectives most people never will.

Another project successfully completed. Scroll through to see the process from setup to finishπŸš§πŸ—
