Another beautiful deck transformation wrapped up in Surf City and this one was all about finding the perfect balance between affordability, safety, and modern design.

Our client wanted to preserve as much of the existing deck structure as possible to help keep costs down, so instead of a complete tear-off, we carefully evaluated the framing and were able to save portions of the existing joists and several structural posts. We reinforced and sistered the framing where needed to add strength, stability, and long-term durability while still maximizing the homeowner’s investment.

To complete the look, the homeowner chose sleek brushed aluminum railings to keep the view open and modern while overlooking their beautiful canal-side property. The result is a clean, coastal aesthetic with improved functionality and visibility; exactly the vibe they were hoping for.

At Home2 Construction, we believe every project should be approached with solutions that make sense for the homeowner, whether that means a full rebuild or creatively working with what can safely be preserved.

It’s been a busy season over here at Home2 Construction and we figured it was time for a little catch-up post because behind the scenes, we’ve been MOVING.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been:

This North Topsail Beach kitchen didn’t need a full renovation,

There’s nothing better than a repeat customer, especially when they call you back for project number two.

After completing a beautiful octagonal tongue and groove ceiling on this homeowner’s back porch in River Bluffs, she loved it so much she brought us back to do the front porch too.

This new tongue and groove ceiling adds so much warmth, character, and charm right at the front entry. It’s one of those details that completely transforms a space and makes a home feel even more custom and inviting.

And one of our favorite parts of this project? Having the next generation right there with us. 💪

You’ll see in the photos my son helping hang the tongue and groove, learning the trade, working hard, and being part of what we’re building as a family.

This 4-season room started with a basic white hardie board ceiling- clean, but nothing special. Our homeowner came to us with a hand-drawn inspiration sketch, and trusted us to make it real. And let me tell you… we delivered. 🙌

The custom wood ceiling completely transformed this space into something warm, inviting, and full of character. According to her, we brought her vision to life and that’s exactly what we’re here to do.

Some jobs just hit a little different… and this was definitely one of them 🐔🐶🐎. We also love our subject matter experts... The Hatchery at Watts Landing

Today we built an 8x16 custom chicken coop for a homeowner in Burgaw, set on a beautiful horse farm filled with 10 chickens, 4 horses, and a whole crew of pups keeping us company while we worked (which, let’s be honest, might be our favorite part).

After losing her flock to a coyote this past fall, her #1 priority was SECURITY and we made sure this coop delivered.

This build includes:
✔️ Fully wrapped in 1/4" hardware cloth (no rust, no compromise).
✔️ Vaulted ceilings so the hens can roost up high and comfortably.
✔️ Roosting boxes for a happy, healthy flock.
✔️ Opening framed and ready for a future automatic coop door.
✔️ Separate man door for easy access to the run.
✔️ Durable metal roofing + a custom color metal roof to tie it all together.

We love what we do every day but getting to build something that protects animals (especially chickens 🐔) and work alongside families who care for them… that’s the good stuff right there.

Are you a high school junior or senior thinking about trade school or a career in construction?
This is your chance to get real, hands-on experience in the field, working alongside a license NC GC.

Home2 Construction is proud to offer a Summer Internship Program designed to introduce motivated students to the construction industry, from the ground up.

What You’ll Learn

This is not a “watch from the sidelines” internship—you’ll be in it with us:

✔️ Basic & finish carpentry
✔️ Deck building
✔️ Kitchen & remodeling projects
✔️ Tiling & custom cabinetry
✔️ Demo & job site preparation
✔️ Permitting & licensing basics
✔️ Preventative maintenance
✔️ Exposure to a new construction build

Real Industry Exposure

Interns will also have the opportunity to spend time with our trusted trade partners, including:

⚡ Electrical
🚿 Plumbing
🎨 Design

These short partner experiences (ranging from a few days to a week) give you a well-rounded look at different career paths within the trades.

🕒 Program Details
Up to 40 hours per week (schedule coordinated prior to start)
$10/hour paid internship
Duration and schedule will be tailored to the selected candidate
