Most people think a lawn starts with grass. It starts with grade.

Stage one is the Harley rake tearing out roots and weeds. Stage two is topsoil brought in and pitched so water runs away from the house. Stage three is the fine grade, then hydroseed goes down the next day.

Do it in this order and the lawn holds. Skip a step and you are fixing it every spring.

A playground is not just a pile of wood chips.

This one is at 2220 Evergreen Drive in Hamilton, and here is what went into the ground before a single kid ever climbs on it.

We rough graded the property, then came back and set the final grade. A bio basin went in for the township to handle drainage, and that water does not just disappear down a pipe. It feeds natural growth and vegetation right there on the property. Better for the site, better for the environment, and it does the job the township needs it to do.

Then the play area itself.

We graded it flat and clean. W**d barrier went down first so nothing pushes up through it a year from now. On top of that, natural wood cedar chips instead of dyed mulch. Cedar does something dyed mulch cannot do. It helps deter mosquitoes and mites. Your kids are going to spend hours down in that material. It should be working for them.

The frame is pressure treated and anchored with two foot long pieces of rebar driven straight down through it. That frame does not creep, it does not spread, and it does not shift when somebody comes running into it. Same reason for how the hardware is set at the ledge.

A gym set goes in later. When it does, the ground underneath it is already right.

That is the difference between a play area that is still solid in ten years and one you are tearing out after two summers.

We build it like our own kids are going to be on it.

Here it is, with a shorter alternate the way I did the last one.

Primary

Everybody looks at the grass. Almost nobody looks at what is under it.

That is backwards, because the dirt decides everything. You can put down the best seed money can buy, and if the soil underneath it is compacted construction fill full of roots and debris, you are going to have a thin patchy lawn that you spend the next three years fighting.

So here is what actually happens on this property before a single seed goes down.

Topsoil comes in and gets run twice through. Not once. Twice. The roots come out, the debris comes out, everything that got buried during the build comes out. What is left is clean material a root system can actually live in.

Then the fine grade. We set the pitch so water runs away from the foundation instead of sitting against it. That step is invisible once the grass grows in, and it is also the step that saves a homeowner the most money down the road.

Irrigation goes in next. Zone to zone, engineered for even coverage across the whole property. A garden hose cannot do this. You get puddling in one spot, dry burned patches in another, and then you are standing there wondering why half your yard looks great and half looks dead.

Then seed. Blue Tag seed, hydroseeded with peat moss worked in, because peat holds moisture right at the surface where young roots need it most. That is the difference between a lawn that thickens up and one that gives up the first hot week in July.

And the fertilizer program is not a guess off a shelf. We run a soil test, a rep reads the numbers, and the package gets built around what your dirt is actually short on.

Seed or sod, take your pick. If the dirt underneath is wrong, neither one is going to save you.

Every single review on our Google profile came from a customer who decided on their own that we were worth the two minutes it takes to write one. We do not ask for them. We do not offer a discount in exchange for them. We do not chase anybody down. They show up because the work showed up first.

This job site sits close to Hammonton. The homeowner bought the land, built a custom home on it, and needed the property cleared and shaped around the build. He found us online the same way anybody else would. He looked at us next to everyone else out there. Then he read what actual customers had to say, and he picked us.

That is the part that means something. It was not a referral from a buddy. It was not a favor. It was a guy on his phone reading real feedback from people who had no reason to say anything nice unless they meant it, and deciding we were the crew he trusted on his property.

So when somebody asks how we stay this busy, the answer is not complicated. We show up. We do quality work. We treat the property like it belongs to somebody, because it does. To the homeowner this is not a job site. It is home.
