We’ve welcomed a return to normal rain patterns this summer, making for healthier lawns compared to the extremes of the past two years. However, with increased rain, lawns may still face challenges like root rot, fungal diseases, and yellowing from overwatering.

Here are some tips for maintaining your lawn:

Fungus Alert: Keep an eye out for diseases like Helminthosporium Leaf Spot and Gray Leaf Spot. Regular fungicide treatments can help control these.

Mowing: Follow the 1/3 rule—never cut more than 1/3 of the blade length at a time. Proper mowing ensures your clippings break down quickly and nourish your lawn.

Insects: Watch for Chinch Bugs and Tropical Sod Web-Worms. These pests can cause significant damage if left unchecked.
Top-Dressing: Now is a great time to top-dress your lawn with sand to improve drainage.

Watering: Be mindful of your irrigation system—overwatering can cause more harm than good.
