Checking a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) ensures it's working to detect any abnormal changes in the flow of electrical current and can shut off power to an outlet as soon as it presents a danger. If someone in your home accidentally gets water on an electrical appliance, a GFCI can truly become a lifesaver.

Test all GCFIs in your home monthly by:

1. Pressing the "TEST" button on the outlet cover to shut power off.
2. Pressing "RESET" to restore it.
