First job with Goodwill, and Murphy's Law showed up early. 🔨

Wrong screws. Then the lift. We're at Goodwill corporate in Cincinnati laying decking today, carpenters come in behind us, and we're back Thursday and Friday for the EPDM, weather permitting.

You don't yell at your guys when it goes sideways. You work through it and get everybody to the finish line. Big contract or small, everybody gets the same treatment.

Your ridge vent might be nothing but a facade. 🏠

We pulled a roof that had ridge vent with only a half inch opening. Code calls for at least two inches. We cut an inch and a half on each side, so about three inches of real airflow.

Continuous venting beats box vents every time. Box vents give you nine inch holes and the hot air has to travel to find them. Ridge vent lets it escape evenly across the whole roof.

Caught Jason running the schedule for the rest of the day. Sounds small, but this is the whole thing right here.

Splash guards, dog ears, whatever you call them. 🔨

There is a valley dumping right above the front door on this one. Six inch gutters can usually keep up, but in a hard rain that water finds a way out and lands on whoever is standing at the door.

So we added these. Thicker gauge, actually made for this job, built to hold up to the weather. Nobody asked us to. It is just the right way to finish a roof.

Watch a church get its crown back. 🚁

Old roof off, brand new one on, all from a few hundred feet up. Some buildings hold a lot more than the people inside them, and this one earned every bit of the care we put into it. ⛪

A discontinued shingle just got this homeowner a $43,000 roof. ⛈️

Another company had already looked at it. The homeowner is handy, so he climbed up and patched a blown off shingle himself. Nobody caught that the shingle was discontinued.

We did. Insurance paid the full replacement and he covered his deductible. That is what knowing the industry gets you. And fair warning: your neighbor getting approved from the same storm does not mean you will. Your carrier matters.
