Giving this classic 1st Gen Tundra the front-end refresh it deserves!

The 1st Gen Tundra platform is absolute legend, but original rubber parts don't last forever. We got this rig up on the rack to completely eliminate steering slop and front-end clunks. The crew pressed in fresh lower control arm bushings, installed heavy-duty CV shafts, and dropped in new rack and pinion bushings to get this steering tight and precise again. Ready for another 200,000 miles!

Protecting those V8s from the sneaky valley plate leak!

The 4.6L V8 in the GX460 is legendary for its reliability, but that factory liquid sealant under the intake manifold has a expiration date. We got this clean GX on the rack, pulled the manifold, prepped the surfaces, and applied fresh sealant along with new gaskets to make sure it stays leak-free on and off the trail. Catching this early saves you from major headaches down the road!

Cause of Death: Total friction failure. 🪦💀

This Miata rolled into the bays with zero pedal feel and no drive—and once we pulled the manual transmission, it was easy to see why. The clutch plate was sheared down to the bare metal rivets, and the flywheel took so much heat and abuse that it was completely heat-checked, gouged, and destroyed. Rest in peace to the factory setup! The crew prepped the crank, installed a fresh flywheel and clutch package, and resurrected this MX-5 just in time for the weekend.

We had this 4Runner in the shop today to address a super common issue on high-mileage Toyotas—leaking valve cover gaskets. Over time, heat cycles harden the factory rubber gaskets until oil starts seeping out around the engine and down into the spark plug wells. The crew pulled the covers, thoroughly cleaned up the sealing surfaces, dropped in fresh OEM gaskets, and got this engine bay back to squeaky-clean condition!

It has been a while since we've sold any products online. After much thought and deliberation, we've decided that selling products just isn't for us anymore but it would be a shame to let all that work we've done go to waste.

There were many people who contributed to the R&D of the products we made at Tandem. Two of those people were Johnathan Lopez and Chris Story. Tandem will focus on Service and Repair and will be turning over all the IP and tooling over to a newly created venture called Detour Design Co. A handing off of the baton, if you will.

The great thing about this is that Chris and J Lo have been involved with tandem in one way or another for a while, meaning they both know the ins and outs of the products and how they work. They'll be able to hit the ground running.

Stay tuned as we begin the transition process.
