My sister… Boo
Today is National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day which aptly falls during National Nutrition Month. At Franklin, we have a great team of dietitians and technicians supporting our patient community.
Marcy Lawless, clinical nutrition manager at FCHN, works with patients to provide nutrition education and guidance that fits their current medical needs.
When asked why she chose to become a dietitian, Marcy shared, “ I was fascinated by how healthy foods can benefit your health both short and long term. This interest in food as medicine made learning the field of nutrition easy!”
“I love caring for the community in which I live. When I started as a dietitian, I worked at a large state hospital. I often never knew how what I offered, either in nutrition support or just being another caregiver, impacted the patients I worked with. At Franklin, I often get to hear how small caring gestures helped the patients I was fortunate enough to work with.”
Marcy says that if she could impart one piece of advice to folks during National Nutrition Month, it would be to “Make EVERY bite count! Ask yourself before you eat or drink something, ‘will this promote health or promote disease?’”
