What does a typical day look like at Whitehead's Landscaping? Honestly, there isn't one. On any given day you might find our crew operating heavy equipment, building custom garden beds, moving mature trees, adding color to a garden, improving soil health, cleaning up a property, or digging a hole big enough for a swimming pool. Sometimes we do all of that in the same day, and that's exactly what we mean when we say we provide 360° outdoor services throughout Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, and the Wood River Valley.
Some projects just need a shovel and a good pair of gloves. Others need the big equipment, especially when the work involves grading, excavation, moving large trees, installing hardscape features, or transforming an outdoor space entirely. Our landscape construction team handles it all from the ground up, including custom installation, patios, walkways, retaining walls, garden beds, irrigation systems, sod, and hydroseed. And when the plan calls for something really big, like a pool, we're the ones who dig the hole. Not every transformation needs machinery, though. Sometimes a few well-built garden beds and the right plants change a property completely: our team builds the structure, and our Lily & Fern crew brings in the color with flowers, seasonal plantings, pots, and baskets. It's construction and horticulture working together rather than as separate jobs.
One advantage of working with Whitehead's is our own local tree farm. Growing trees right here in the Wood River Valley means they're already suited to Idaho's mountain climate, and our crews have the equipment and experience to move and plant even the big ones. Landscaping doesn't always go according to plan, of course. When we hit a hiccup, experience is what gets the project moving again: assess, solve, clean up, and continue. It's not the glamorous part of the work, but it's a big part of what we do.
Outdoor spaces have become true extensions of the home, and building them can mean serious construction.
