About the Role
Appalachian Field Services (AFS) is looking for field inspectors to complete occupancy and property condition inspections on vacant, foreclosed, and REO homes. This role is ideal for individuals who are comfortable working independently, driving long distances, and delivering clear, accurate documentation.
What the Work Involves
1. Driving to assigned properties (often 50–300 miles per day) and inspecting 2–8 properties daily
2. Conducting occupancy checks and condition assessments
3. Taking full interior and exterior photo sets (sometimes time-stamped)
4. Writing short, accurate reports
5. Uploading photos and documentation through Google Drive and web-based systems
What You’ll Need
1. A reliable, high-mileage vehicle
2. Smartphone or digital camera capable of timestamped photos
3. Ability to write clear field notes
4. Comfort using email, Google Drive, and basic apps/databases
5. Strong time management and follow-through
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience with vacant, REO, or insurance inspections
- Familiarity with FHA / Fannie Mae property preservation standards
