Proud to highlight the achievement of enabling urban farming in residential zones through the passage of Prince George’s County Urban Farming Zoning Ordinance CR-17-2019 & CB-14-2019 (2019). These landmark ordinances allow urban farming by right in most residential, commercial, and industrial zones—expanding opportunities for rooftop farming, aquaponics, and controlled environment agriculture in Prince George’s County, MD.

As part of this journey, had the privilege of working directly with a local business to help implement these changes—translating new zoning allowances into a real, thriving urban farming operation within the community. This hands-on partnership demonstrated the power of policy change to drive meaningful progress at the local level.

This progressive legislation overcame previous zoning barriers, making it easier for residents, entrepreneurs, and community groups to establish urban farms and gardens in local neighborhoods. By redefining and expanding the uses, these ordinances are a significant step toward food equity, economic empowerment, and innovative green space utilization for all county residents.

Grateful for the collaboration and advocacy that made this vision possible, and excited to see more sustainable food production and creative land use in our communities!

This large-scale development features over 1 million square feet of space for shopping, dining, entertainment, hotels, and multifamily living, all designed to be a major destination at the crossroads of Interstates 55 and 80. Led the master concept and site planning effort to bring this transformative project to life—excited to see new opportunities and economic growth for the community.
