In mid-September, we attended one of our favorite events of the year. The Eagle River Water Festival, put on by Eagle River Coalition allows Eagle County 5th graders to come and learn about all things watershed.

Dunking our team is always a hit with the students! And we love teaching kids about the importance of the relationship between people, trees, and water!

We beg to differ. The work we do is pretty cool, and our crews look cool (and safe!) doing it.

A few weeks ago, our crews participated in Saluting Branches, a national day of service for those working in the tree care industry.

Our team joined other tree crews and arborists to help maintain and care for the trees in our state’s landscapes that honor veterans. It was a wonderful day of connection and service for our teams.

Our owner, Mike Earl, spent the last week biking in the mountains to raise money for the Tree Fund through a the Tour Des Trees. During this event people from all walks of life come together to ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains for a week. They stop along the way to engage with the community, plant trees and educate people about our relationship with trees.

This event benefits the Tree Fund, an organization that does important work educating people about the importance of trees and tree care. You can still donate through the link in our bio to help Mike reach his goal! Every little bit helps!

🌲 Meet the Crew 🌲

Meet Sylvester “Sly” Gaona. Sly is new to our team this year, but has been a quick study in tree climbing and arboriculture. Sly recently enrolled in our Apprenticeship program and is excited to have moved from grounds crew to learning tree climbing and removals.

Sly says his favorite part of the job is the variety of work the crews do day to day. “[The work] could be doing fire mitigation to keep our community safe during fire season or something more complicated like a removal that requires a lot of moving parts.”

Moving to Colorado from Homer, Alaska, Sly has traveled widely, spending time in Oregon, California, and even 6 months in Patagonia, thanks to a degree in Culinary Arts. He’s even been known to cook for the crews once in a while during our monthly team BBQs.

When Sly isn’t climbing trees, he loves to cook (of course), hike, and camp with his dog and girlfriend. Sly has been an amazing addition to our team, and we are so grateful to have him on our crew. Say hello to Sly when you see him around Eagle County!
