SERVICE CALL OF THE DAY… and it could happen in your home.
Today I responded to a home where the customer had suddenly lost power to several rooms. At first, they thought it was just a bad breaker. What I found was much more serious and it could have easily turned into a fire hazard.
This is exactly why electrical panel maintenance is so important.
Here’s what I found…
Don’t Forget About Your Electrical Panel!
Your electrical panel is the heart of your home’s electrical system, but it’s often the most overlooked. Just like your HVAC system or your vehicle, it needs routine maintenance to keep it operating safely.
Today I responded to a service call where a homeowner had lost power to several rooms. After troubleshooting, I found that one of the breakers had become loose over time. That loose connection created heat, which burned the back of the breaker and damaged the panel’s bus bar where the breaker connects.
Unfortunately, their panel was full of tandem breakers so there was no available space to relocate the breaker. The entire electrical panel will now need to be replaced.
This is a perfect example of why preventative maintenance matters. During a panel maintenance inspection, loose breakers and connections can often be identified before they overheat and cause costly damage—or worse, become a fire hazard.
A simple maintenance inspection today could save you thousands of dollars tomorrow and help protect your home and family.
If it’s been several years since your electrical panel has been inspected, now is a great time to schedule a maintenance check.
📞 Give Reid Electric LLC a call today to inspect your electrical panel for loose connections, signs of overheating, worn breakers, and other potential safety concerns.
