This one-minute timelapse captures sunrise in our native Pavilion Garden, where Gulf Fritillary caterpillars begin their day feeding on a Maypop passionflower vine.

Watching this relationship unfold is a reminder of how nature is designed to regenerate. The caterpillars eagerly consume the vine until very little remains, then the passionflower grows back stronger. Soon after, a new generation of butterflies returns, and the cycle begins again.

It's a beautiful example of a living landscape doing exactly what it was designed to do! πŸ›

β€œOne of the things that means the most to me at Cherrylake is the opportunity to grow and develop, especially through my involvement in OUTSIDE Collab. I get to be a part of how Cherrylake is actually investing in change. Not just saying it, but putting time, energy, and resources behind building a better future for Florida’s landscapes. That kind of vision makes you want to keep growing so you can be a part of something bigger.”

Our friends at Homegrown National Park are behind the Mosquito Bucket Challenge, a practical way to help reduce mosquitoes in your own backyard.

The idea is simple: mosquitoes are attracted to the bucket and lay their eggs there. A Bti larvicide prevents those larvae from developing into biting adults, helping reduce the next generation of mosquitoes right where you spend time outdoors while avoiding harm to caterpillars, fireflies, dragonflies, pollinators, and other beneficial wildlife.

All you need is:
- A 5-gallon bucket with water
- A handful of organic matter like straw or grass
- A larvicide donut containing Bti (you can easily find this on Amazon or at home improvement stores)
